Excellent nib.
I'm what I'd call a mid-range fountain pen person. Really I'm talking about that 20-40 dollar price range where you get the the Metropolitan or Safari. Some might say that makes me a budget fountain pen person, but I am of the opinion that owning multiple pens worth more than 100 dollars disqualifies an individual from having an opinion on pen prices.
Anyway, I ordered a triad as soon as I became aware of the model. I had heard good things about Nahvalur but before the triad they were still out of my price range ( even though their pens are priced quite reasonably for the industry).
The design of the pen is well thought out even if it lacks the flare of Nahvalur's pricier models. That's particularly forgivable in this case because this is a pen for people who want a pen.
The unique triangular shape is more comfortable in the hand than other similar designs I've tried, but the star here is the nib.
I got the medium size which writes about as thick as a medium Lamy nib, but MUCH more smoothly. I think it's actually got the smoothest feel in my whole
collection (probably about 30 pens), with the possibile exception of the Pilot Prera.
The Prera is a good overall comparison even though it usually comes in at almost 2x the price of the triad because they both seem like serious attempts to make a lightweight pen that's really good at being a pen. I do think the Prera wins pretty handily on a visual level, but that's not a problem with the Triad.
Over all, I'm very satisfied with the pen. Nahvalur is a young brand in the world of fountain pens and releasing a $20 pen that writes this well is a fantastic way to build reputation.
If my pen budget ever significantly expands, Nahvalur will be a serious contender.
